Is Scandut really free?
Yes. The scanner — page detection, perspective correction, enhancement, PNG/JPG/PDF export — is free to use, supported by ads. There is no watermark and no page limit.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. All processing runs inside your browser on your own device. You can verify this: load the page, switch to airplane mode, and the scanner still works. Nothing you scan is sent to us or stored by us.
Do I need to install an app or create an account?
Neither. Scandut runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Open the site, drop in a photo, download the result.
Which file types can I scan?
JPG, PNG and WebP images, including several at once. Video scanning — filming a stack of pages and letting Scandut pick the best frame per page — is under development.
The automatic detection missed my page. What now?
Drag any of the four corners to the right spot; a magnifier appears so you can hit the exact paper edge. Manual corners go through the same perspective correction, so the result quality is identical.
How do I make a multi-page PDF?
Scan pages one after another — each finished page is kept in a tray. When you are done, press "Download all as PDF" and every page is merged into one file in order.
What resolution do the scans have?
Output is up to about 2400 pixels on the long edge, which corresponds to roughly 200–290 DPI for an A4 page — comfortably sharp for reading, printing and archiving.
Why does my scan look uneven or shadowy?
Try Document mode, which removes gradual lighting differences. Hard shadows with sharp edges are best avoided at shooting time — see our tips on photographing documents without shadows.
