ScandutDocument Scanner

How to use Scandut

Scandut is a web scanner that finds the page inside a photo of a document and straightens it into a front-facing scan. There is no app to install and no account to create — everything runs in your browser.

The basics

On the home page, drag and drop a document photo (or click to browse — several photos at once is fine). The page is detected automatically and a green scan area appears. Each of the four corners can be dragged, with a magnifier shown while you drag so you can place it precisely. Press Scan this area and the skewed document comes out flat and straight.

On the result screen you can pick one of three enhancement modes. Document removes lighting blotches and shadows and boosts contrast so the page looks printed, Color keeps the original colors, and B&W converts to grayscale. Save each page as PNG or JPG, or scan several pages and use Download all as PDF to merge them into a single PDF.

Taking a good photo

Fit the whole document in the frame and shoot where the page stands out from the background. Strong shadows across the page or a hand covering part of it can lower detection accuracy. And if auto-detection misses, no problem — drag the corners into place yourself and the correction quality is exactly the same.

Where do my photos go?

Nowhere. Page detection, perspective correction, enhancement and PDF generation are all computed inside your browser, and your photos are never uploaded to a server. Even on a slow connection, once the page has loaded the scanner works entirely offline.

Extracting text (OCR)

On the results screen, open Extract text (OCR) and press the read button: every scanned page is read — Korean and English, including mixed documents — and the recognized text appears in an editable box. Fix anything the engine misread, then download the content as a Text (.txt) file, a Word (.docx) document, or an Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheet where each line is split into columns using the gaps on the page. Recognition runs entirely in your browser; the first run downloads the language data once (about 15 MB).

What's coming next

We're building video scanning — film yourself flipping through pages and Scandut will automatically pick the sharpest frame for each page and scan them all in one go.
