About Scandut
Scandut is a free document scanner that runs entirely in your web browser. You open a photo of a document, the page is detected automatically, perspective distortion is corrected so the page looks flat, the lighting is cleaned up, and you download the result as a PNG, JPG or multi-page PDF. Since 2026 it can also read the text in your scans and export it as a Text, Word or Excel file.
Why we built it
Everyone occasionally needs to “scan and send” a piece of paper — a signed contract, a receipt for reimbursement, an ID for verification, homework, a form for school. Most people solve this with a phone photo that arrives tilted, shadowed and hard to read, or with a scanner app that demands an account, a subscription, or uploads the document to someone else's server. We wanted the obvious middle ground: scanner-grade output, straight from the browser, with nothing to install and nothing uploaded.
Our principles
Your documents stay on your device. Every processing step — page detection, perspective correction, enhancement, OCR text recognition and file generation — runs locally in your browser. Your photos are never transmitted to our servers. This is not a marketing line; the site is built as static files with no upload endpoint at all.
Free, supported by ads. Scandut is free to use without an account. To keep it that way, the site may show advertising. Ads never affect your scan quality or access to features.
No dark patterns. No watermarks, no page limits designed to upsell, no “free trial” countdowns. If a feature exists, you can use it.
What Scandut does today
Automatic page detection with manual corner adjustment, batch scanning of multiple pages, perspective correction at full photo resolution, three enhancement modes (document, color, grayscale) with adjustable strength, page rotation and reordering, PDF export with A4 and quality options, and text extraction (OCR) in English and Korean with TXT, DOCX and XLSX export. The guide walks through each step, and the tips section collects practical advice on scanning paperwork well.
